Brief summary on how to use for students:  The students will be able to use this book to understand that it is not okay to discriminate against anyone. The book can also show that you should not judge someone just because of their race or ethnicity.
Summary: There is another riot going on in L.A. and Daniel and his mother stay in the apartment that catches on fire from the riot. Everyone in the building is forced to go to a shelter and Mrs. Kim who also lived in the apartment and had her store raided was involved although Daniel’s mama told him not to talk to anyone who is not their color. Jasmine, Daniel’s cat, and Mrs. Kim’s cat are both lost from the fire. In the end they are saved and sent to the shelter and Mama invites Mrs. Kim to bring her cat over ad they agree. They learn the value of getting along with others no matter their background or ethnicity.
